The X1 Mill has a fixed column, shorter table (240mm) and a short Y-axis travel of 100mm. Although we don't stock a complete inventory of spare parts, we do normally carry the parts that you are likely to break or wear out. You should be able to identify the part you need using the manual that came with the machine.

Actually cut a valley, then turn the gear 360/no. of valleys. The tool to make is somewhat like a fly cutter, but the cutting tool is 90 degrees to the Z axis and is ground to the profile of the gear. You can just use the old gear as a template to grind it. You only need a $5 3/8" HSS tool blank to test the abilty to use the mill as a lathe.

I then placed a spacer of approximately 1.3mm under the circlip and on top of the top gear on the spindle (I made it from a mudguard/fender washer using a step drill). This reduced the overall stack height by a couple of mm which means that the circlip now goes on properly and the gears align properly.

An X2 mini mill essentially has unlimited quill travel and that would make my drilling life so much easier. Don't expect to be using large cutters and taking deep cuts. Working with steel can sometimes be a lesson in frustration as well. The manufacturer's maximum recommended endmill and drill size for this machine is 10mm (25/64").
